Scholarships for Study Abroad
As part of Colorado State's Internationalization Plan, The Office of International Programs (OIP) has developed a new scholarship program specifically to support undergraduate study abroad. Approximately 60 awards ranging from $200 for the summer, $500-$750 for a semester, and $750-$1,000 for an academic year will be granted by the scholarship committee.

Spring Programs: October 15
Summer Programs: March 1
Fall/Academic Year: April 15
Office of International Programs Scholarships
- OIP Need-Based Study Abroad Scholarships: Awards ranging from $200 for the summer, $500-$700 for a semester, and $750-$1,000 for the academic year for CSU students accepted to study abroad on an authorized study abroad program. Eligibility requirements: 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA and demonstrated financial need.
- OIP Merit-Based Study Abroad Scholarships: Awards of $200 for the summer and $500 for a semester or year for CSU students accepted to study abroad on an authorized
study abroad program. Eligibility requirements: 3.3 minimum GPA.
- CSU Affiliate Scholarships: Awards granted by various CSU Affiliates specifically for CSU students enrolled in their programs. Application is made through the Office of International Programs, but awards are granted by individual Affiliates. Note: Affiliate scholarships may not be available every semeseter.
- Matthew P. Shoup Spain Study Abroad Scholarship: Awards ranging from $500 for the summer and $750 for a semester for CSU students accepted to study abroad in Spain on an authorized study abroad program. Eligibility requirements: 2.75 minimum overall cumulative GPA, 3.0 in Spanish classes and demonstrated financial need. Students awarded this scholarship are required to write a one-page report upon return from their study abroad program.
- Denver Council on Foreign Relations (DCFR) Scholarship: One $1,000 award for an in-state student at CSU who graduated from a rural or outlying high school in Colorado. Application is made through
the Office of International Programs, but awards are granted by the Denver Council on Foreign Relations.
CSU College and Departmental Scholarships
- Johannes and Seraina Gessler Scholarship for Study Abroad Engineering students only
- Foreign Languages and Literatures Study Abroad Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships each year for students majoring in a foreign language
