Finding a Program

Colorado State University students are able to take advantage of a wide variety of educational opportunities around the world. Students may study abroad on CSU-Sponsored or Affiliated Programs (the programs listed in this catalog), participate in an authorized program sponsored by another university or study abroad organization, or enroll as a visiting student in an accredited university abroad. CSU Study Abroad advisors are available to assist and guide students through the process of identifying and selecting a program that will meet their academic and personal goals. Search for a Program

CSU-Sponsored Programs

Colorado State has formal agreements with numerous universities abroad. These programs allow CSU students to enroll in regular university classes with students from the host country or to enroll in classes designed for international students.

Some CSU-Sponsored Programs have a Colorado State faculty member who accompanies students abroad for one semester. These “faculty-in-residence” teach a class abroad in which CSU students are encouraged to enroll. During the summer, CSU faculty-led programs are offered in conjunction with the Division of Continuing education. These programs frequently have the added benefit of offering CSU credit rather than transfer credit for the courses taken abroad.

An advantage of CSU-Sponsored Programs is affordability. Several locations offer a “reciprocal exchange” option that allows a limited number of CSU students to study at the foreign university for a cost that is comparable to full tuition and fees at CSU.

The program charge for CSU-Sponsored Programs is billed to the student’s CSU account and typically includes the cost of tuition, fees, and a study abroad administrative charge. Other costs, such as accommodation, meals, insurance, field trips, etc., might be included in what is billed to the student’s CSU account or paid directly to the host university.

CSU Affiliated Programs

CSU-Affiliated Programs are offered by study abroad organizations that have an official partnership agreement with Colorado State. CSU Affiliates have been chosen for their commitment to academic quality, opportunities for cultural integration, and reputation for their close attention to student health and safety abroad.

These programs frequently include tuition, accommodation, meals, dedicated on-site staff, incountry orientations, airport pick-up in the host country, insurance, overnight excursions, and local field trips as part of a comprehensive program package. Compare costs carefully because not all programs include the same features. Affiliates may offer specific scholarships or discounts for CSU students.

All Affiliated Program costs are paid directly to the CSU-Affiliated Program sponsor. In addition, CSU bills the student’s CSU account for a study abroad administrative charge each term the student is abroad.
